Learning Journal Blog

  1. What are the possible implications of the learning from Week 1 assignments for my own professional development?

The possible implications are that a lot may, and will actually change in my life, both in the way I do things, as well as in my perception of life. I will foremost be able to prioritize my time and activities such that the outcomes will be beneficial, not only to me, but to anyone within range of my professional development. I will be a much more organized person able to produce more and greater results within my assigned tasks. Looking at the stakeholders in my life, I realize that they have contributed a lot to my being. With this as a basis in my professional development, there will be individuals who will also impact my life and make meaningful contributions in my life. I will thus be able to learn how to meet the expectations of any new contributor towards my professional development.

I will also be able to learn and share a lot from my coaching experience and in essence, transfer this learning and sharing experience towards my professional development. Having shared a lot with my professional coach, I believe I will be able to look at things much more objectively, and rather than keep on learning on my mistakes as I move along, learn from the experiences my coach will have shared with me towards my professional development.

Finally, I will be able to maintain a journal for my professional development, such that as I move along, I will be able to look back, reflect and improve on my life within the professional life. This will be good as it will also show me the milestones I will be able to have covered and serve as a good motivator that life is meant to be progressive.

  1. What are the potential implications of what I learned for my work unit?

Within my work unit, the potential implications will be that I will be a better team player and make more positive contributions than I had previously done. Since I will be working with individuals from different backgrounds and expectations, I should be able to accommodate and learn how to meet the various and different expectations in the best way possible for all parties involved.

  1. What ideas or questions arose that I would like to discuss with my coach?

I would like to discuss with my coach primarily his experiences within the professional world. I would also be greatly interested in learning about his transitional process from graduate school, into the professional life that he/she is in. This will aid me in making the right decisions and follow the paths that are the surest way of achieving my goals and ambitions.

  1. What possible artifacts could you include in your portfolio today? What do these artifacts suggest about you personally or professionally?

In my present portfolio, I would be able to include my past academic diplomas and my professional training certificates. What these artifacts would suggest about me both personally and professionally would be that I am a person who believes in continually improving me through the acquisition of new knowledge, training and skills.
